Music is very much part of my daily life, so why don't you join me as I chart my life with a different song everyday.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
The Christmas season has finally arrived and with it the right to play all of those wonderful Christmas songs that I absolutely love. For the next few weeks I will be sharing a song each day, a favourite Christmas song each day up to Christmas Day.

After the cheesefest I needed something.......
.......less cheesy, but this pooped into my head instead. Not a great lover of Duran Duran - the boy band of my school days - better than the cheese overload of the past few days though.

Lest we forget.
It doesn't matter what we think of Governments that send our soldiers to war, we should never forget the immense bravery of them all. We can sit at home and criticise the leaders and their decisions and their reasons, but it will never alter the fact that men and women the world over join the armed forces so that they can make a real difference for us. That is what we should remember this day, the countless lives that have been lost so we can have the freedom to voice our concerns - they gave their lives for our freedom. And it doesn't matter if you think we aren't truly free or whether you believe we do have our freedom, what is important is that these brave souls gave up their freedom for us, they know what they are getting involved in and still they sacrifice so much for us. They give up so much for us.

I have been hearing this song on the radio, every time I go out on the car. It has taken me a while to find out who it is by and now I know.

My favourite song by UB40.
Where to start with this! There are so many, "Madam Medusa" - said to be an attack on Margaret Thatcher. Or could it be "Dream A Lie", or even "Johnny Too Bad" I could sit here and rhyme so many off and still not be able to choose one. Maybe I should just list a few over the next few days and bore everyone silly!
I think we'll start with Madam Medusa.

Early music.
I somehow always seem to love the early music of singers and groups more than their later stuff. When I was a pre teen and just starting secondary school I really loved Culture Club. This was before I moved onto U2, UB40 and Crowded House. The first album from Culture Club is called Kissing To Be Clever and this is one of my favourite tracks from it.

Funny what you think about.......
.......when you are traumatised.
I was looking on you tube the other day for a song and came across this. I can remember when I was waiting to do the line up in 1987 (in those days there was nothing to protect the victim, but after what happened to me they changed it. I almost collapsed with sheer terror having to come face to face with a bastard who tried to ruin my life) and this song was all I could think of.

Another to be avoided....
.....because I am such an emotional wreck right now I have taken to getting upset when I hear certain songs. If you know me, you know I never cry. On Monday the shit hit the fan in my relationship and it was all but over. But 21 years of marriage (23 years together) has to count for something and we are trying to get back on an even keel. On Monday I heard this on the radio and I could have easily fallen apart at it.

9/11
On September 11th 2001 my newly married brother and his wife were jetting off to America for their honeymoon. At the time of the terrorist attacks they should have been arriving in the country. At the time of the attacks there was a lot of confusion over where planes were and we were being told an international flight was unaccounted for. For over 5 hours we had no news of my brother and his wife's whereabouts. We sat at home, trying in vain to ring emergency numbers, the mobile phones of my brother and sister-in-law, all to no avail. Five hours of witnessing horrific scenes, the like never seen before in peace time, five hours of anguish and going through different scenarios in your head, wondering if there were more planes missing, wondering if they were OK, not knowing.
Then my parents got a phone call from my brother to say he was safe. Their flight had been delayed and they had been flying over Ireland when their pilot was told he had to turn back. They had no idea why, they actually thought their plane had some kind of engine problem. When they got back to Manchester airport chaos greeted them. Then someone told them that planes had been hijacked in America and deliberately flown into buildings.......they understood the chaos all around them and knew they had to call their families.
Ten years on we are thankful everyday that things turned out OK for our family. Ten years on we are still shocked whenever we see images of that day. Ten years on I still feel that same fear grip me when those images come on TV. Ten years on I still feel so angry that so many lost their lives because of those fanatics.

Back to lessons and college runs and early mornings.
Summer is officially over. Well, actually, summer never actually happened here, but we'll overlook that for the sake of the post. This week - starting today - sees schools and colleges start back up again after the long summer break. And for me and my son we start home ed again today.
So it's goodbye to summer.

Still stressed and still trying - in vain......
......to distract myself. I am very stressed, very fibro type ill and have the makings (still) of a cold/virus. Autumn is kicking in here (it is cold morning and night) and some bright spark decided it would be the perfect time to upgrade my heating system and boiler - in one day :O
I have so much to do I just feel so..........help........

Hard work.
I have a situation arising this week that is making me feel ill. Yes, stress and fibro aren't a good combination, I know, and to top it all off I have a cold/viral/high temp thing going on. Still, this "thing" I have to get on with is a necessity, needs must, so I am distracting myself with thoughts of pleasure and good times.

Exercising ghosts.
Last year for a certain sabbat I posted this song on FB and dedicated to all who had lost a loved one. Since then I have lost my brother, my Dad, an elderly aunt and my cousin's wife. Not to mention family friends and an elderly neighbour. I seem to have been surrounded by death ever since then.
It goes without saying I now hate this song, but just lately it is always popping into my head. So today I am exercising the ghost of this song and all that it brings with it.

Every film I watch!
It seems that every film I watch these days has this piece of music in it. Twilight has it in and then Frankie and Johnny has it in.....OK, so that's only two, but I watched both of these films this week and this piece of music featured in both of them.

This came up in conversation the other day.
I have to say, my house is kinda mad. I have no idea what we were talking about but someone said something and I said, "oh, I thought you were gonna say they might be giants, as in that group". You just had to be there, it was one of those totally random and mad discussions that I always seem to have with the DD's.

Butt kicking chick!
Yesterday DD1 posted a video on FB by Alannis Morrisette. She mentioned that she likes Alannis because she kinda reminds her of me cos of her butt kicking attitude. That was a compliment I think.

Saw this on FB yesterday.
I used to really love this and would always play it. Haven't had it on in years, someone had it on FB yesterday and I've heard it in my head ever since.

Not what I had intended.
I had a different song lined up for today, but it has been one of those typical Mercury Retrograde days where everything is slow and delayed. I can't even remember what song I had originally thought to put on here earlier this morning, but this is the one that is stuck firm in my head now.

Full moon and mercury retrograde.
Twice this week I have forgotten to do this blog. This week has been fraught with tensions the length and breadth of the country. Personally, it has been an awful long time since I have felt this amount of tension - and that is saying something when my life is very often fraught with hassles.
Today I am including three songs, to make up for the twice I missed. It is not the full moon until tomorrow, but in my experience the days leading up to the full moon are the worst for tension.
